Hugs Will Lift You Up by Jessica Swift

Since Sunday, I’ve been helping out Jess Swift & Khristian A. Howell with their awesometastic booths at Surtex at the Jacob Javits Center. I’m having so much fun being their fort-holders (y’know, holding down their fort when they hafta step away) & lunch orderer/runner (my code name on the walkie talkie is FloJo!) that I keep forgetting that I’m actually helping them.

So, the question for today’s gotta be:

How can you help? (more…)

The Choice by Shira Sela

I admit, I was thisclose to taking a blog break today, since I’m up to my eyeballs in scholarship applications (why do you all have to be so freakin’ awesome?!) & need to pick a winner by tomorrow as promised (gulp). But as I was writing the I’m-on-vacation-please-leave-your-message-at-the-beep post, I thought of such a good tough question, I couldn’t resist.

So, empty your mind, put on your thinking cap & ask:

What’s the toughest decision you need to make? (more…)

Tough (Question) Tuesday: What are you at risk of failing at?

Greatest Risk by jenzet

I attended a webinar last week where Penelope Trunk interviewed Seth Godin, & knew I had to blatently rip off a question that struck me with exclamation points & lightning bolts:

What are you at risk of failing at?

Meet me in the comments & tell me why you might be falling right on your face in the (near?) future. If you can’t think of something, then you’re playing it safe, & “safe” is a 4 letter word.  Pick something with a nice failure risk & commit to it in the comments. We’ll do our best to keep you from tumbling, or at least give ya nothin’ but a scrape.

Boost by shellypaints

I am in love with the print above! Thinking of the cow needing clearance to jump over the moon made me think of how we all need support to get from Point A to Point B, whether it’s from ourselves or others. And that brought me to today’s Tough (Question) Tuesday (yay inspiration!):

How can you give yourself a boost?

Jumping over the moon isn’t something you should be doing yourself, that’s for sure. Join me in the comments section with your answer & we’ll clear the moon-jumping path for each other! (more…)

Motivation Note Cards by watersounds

Most people talk about The Best as it’s this known, established Fact. The Best Actor of our generation? Sean Penn. Or Robert Downey Jr. Or Heath Ledger. Or Sasha Baron Cohen…..or…..

Acknowledging the fact that being The Best is totally subjective, & chucking all sense of ego out the window, answer this tough question:

Why are you The Best? (more…)

Practice Saying Only Nice Things by dwell deep

In my Simply Fearless Fempreneurs (try saying that 5 times fast!) session on Friday, we were asked to write what became clear for us this past week. Without hesitation, I wrote “If I’m not nice to myself, it doesn’t matter if anyone else is.” This has been both my biggest lesson & my biggest challenge in the short time of being a full-time entrepreneur, but I have to say that I’ve been doing well in keeping an open mind, taking deep breaths,  not working myself to the point of drop dead-dom, & literally & figuratively patting myself on the back.

During that same session, I spoke with Coach Cassandra about the challenge I’ve been facing in prioritizing the projects I want to work on, & how I’ve been resisting just picking one & running with it. It was then that she asked:

What’s the choice that’ll treat you the nicest? (more…)

MOMENTS CAN BE MONUMENTS by lakeillustration

OK, OK, I get the hint, Universe! After reading the posts Spiritual Conundrum & Do You Live Like a Hummingbird? within an hour of each other, & after experiencing my first “real” morning as an entrepreneur (more on that tomorrow!), I know what I need to keep reminding myself:

Are you living in the present?

This doesn’t mean that I’m going to automatically become a slacker, putting my Big Ideas & Projects on the backburner. Hell to the no! However, I know that the best way to get it all done, stay sane & enjoy the journey (all at the same time!) is to keep breathing & repeatedly ask myself that question above. You only have two eyes – if one is focused on the future & the other is still looking at the past, then who’s making note of the present, where joy & happiness lives? (more…)

Pen’s Dear John letter to fear, found via Magpie Girl

I’ve been realizing lately that fear is not the enemy – it’s just a roadblock that I’m meant to kick over in it’s big, fat, stupid face. And while I’m friggin’ scared about dumping Corporate America (forever!), & I’m scared that I’m gonna fall flat on my face at this whole self-employment thing, I’m oh so excited & oh so trustful that this is gonna work (goddamit!).

So, dream with me for a moment, & answer the question:

What would you do if you weren’t scared? (more…)

Anyone Can Hide by technicolor.dreams & found via Kind Over Matter

I Know…:

  • …that I’ll always have a parachute of people to catch me when I fall.
  • …that I don’t have to do anything that I don’t wanna do.

  • …that “should” is a 4-letter word.
  • …that there’s no such thing as “failure” or “right” choices if I’m staying true to my uniquity.
