I Quit My Day Job!

Yes I did.

I’m going to be a full-time creative career coach when I grow up, which will specifically be on March 22, 2010.

Cue the tears sobs of gladness (did you expect anything else?):

  12. Dad Says:

Proud does not even come close…

YOU should be Proud++ of yourself.

From a guy who only had 3 jobs his adult life, I do have some regrets ( not too many however ) that you and a whole generation that you will guide, will not have.

You’re setting yourself up to be a leader of your generation, just like you were when you were 5.

I look forward to watching from the sidelines and cheering you on as you continue down this incredible path of self-discovery and adjustment.

  13. Ramona Says:

As I said in my personal e-mail to you -One door closses and another Opens! In this case you”re the closer and opener…The best way to do it…And this is just the beginning of an exciting career of truly helping people. What could be better?
    Love

  25. Zoe Says:

Oh my dear, I was just holding it together, until I read your Dad’s comment – then I was a goner! I’m so very pleased for you, and even though it took a week longer than you hoped, the next two weeks will fly quicker than you can imagine, and before you know it, you’ll be unemployed – in the very best way possible! Congratulations, and best wishes for your years as the awesomest life coach in the universe!!

  26. Renee Says:

    Huzzah!! Good for you. :)

  27. Michelle Says:

@Jen – Welcome, & thank you! I’m here all the freakin’ time (I can’t help it – my blog is my second home!) so drop by whenever. Mi blog es su blog!

@Amy – Amazingness! Whadda powerful way to get the wheels turning, & to actually date the post instead of letting it sit in draft form to get lost or forgotten about…..I know it would be inspiring to sign in to my blog & see that draft at the top of my Edit Posts list. Can’t wait to read it in 2013!

@Diana – I never thought of it that way – being the closer & the opener of doors. It’s such a powerful perspective, to be that much in control.

@Jess – (Blush) Aw, thanks so much! Your kind words really hit home for me. Thank you, thank you for them!

@Zoe – My Dad’s funny – he’s so excited about this! It is super awesome to have my family really being on board & rooting for me. And can I take your comment as my new tagline? I really like “Michelle Ward: Awesomest Life Coach in the Universe”! Ha! :)

    @Renee – Thanks! I love a good “huzzah”!

  28. Jess LC Says:

Congratulations, my friend! I am so happy for you! It was so great to see your reaction in video, I always love those the most :) .

I totally know what you mean about trusting and being scared, it’s definitely a balance while being self-employed. You have hustled so hard up to this point, I can’t wait to see where it all takes you in the future!

    Love,
    Jess!

  29. Angelique Says:

It’s not very often we get to see someone grappling with their dreams coming true–it’s a lot of things, including anxiety and fear, not just tickertape parades!!–so thank you for sharing this with all of us!

    &–of course–congratulations!

  30. Melissa Says:

Congratulations, Michelle! Thanks for doing what you do, and for believing in yourself, which in turn helps us all believe in ourselves that much more. Something like that is in my “Letter to my Future Self”… maybe one day I can make a post like yours. Best of luck.

  31. Michelle Says:

@Jess LC – Thank YOU, my friend! I know that you started your biz when you were a wee one (according to this self-proclaimed “old lady”), but your path & your story has been so inspiring for me! Thanks for showing me where I can end up if I continue “hustling” (I love that you called me a hustler! Now I got that catchy song in my head….)

@Angelique – Yes, yes & yes! Even though I’d love to say, “I’m leaving my job! The sun shines on me always! Sprites call my name & trees sprout money when I pass them!” there is still fear & stress wrapped in with the jubilation. The thing is, the jubilation is so, well, jubilational that it shrinks those Fear & Stress Vampires to little elves. And have you seen a vampire elf? So not scary. And I promise I’ll continue to share the scary pieces as well as the jubilationary (I am so making up my own forms of “jubilation” – it’s fun!) pieces while I travel along this path. Thanks for joining me!

@Melissa – I promise you, you’re going to write a Letter to your Future Self in 2011 or 2012 or 2013 or 2020 & in it you’ll talk about leaving your job. Plant the seed & start dreaming about it. Even if you’re doing nothing but dreaming about it, it’ll help the plan take shape & give you a lil’ kick now & then to take it out of DreamWorld & put it in MelissaWorld. You can so do it!
