Tough (Question) Tuesday: What can you ask for today?

Lend Me Your Wing by Kelli Murray Art, found via kind over matter

My vlog yesterday was all about what-you-can’t-control-itis, & part of dealing with what you can’t control is to ask for help. Take something off your plate. Learn something from an expert.

Now think about that challenge that has you stuck. Whether it’s plain ol’ overwhelm, or thinking you’d be great in a job that you don’t really know anything about, or that you need to find space to paint…..

What can you ask for today?

Today I can ask for the space I need to get it all done. I can ask for time that I once gave away to be mine again. I can ask for fun built right into my schedule. I can ask for relaxation amidst the chaos. I can ask myself to be nice to me as things shift & a whole lotta newness happens. I can ask my friends, my family & my clients to support me through this process. I can ask for boundaries to be set & respected. I can ask for assistance with that which will be too much for me. I can ask for the gift of time, which takes away the pressure to get it done NOW and FAST.

I can ask of this to myself & to those that are in my support network. I know if I ask, I will succeed.

Today I can ask myself to actually start doing, instead of just thinking and talking about doing. I can actually bring the “action piece” into my plan.

I think taking that first step into action is the hardest part. I start today! Whee!!!

Your enthusiasm is infectious, Tiffany! Can’t wait to see what comes from the doing!

I can ask for focus and organization to fit in a little creative work after an all-day day-job-work session. And to have it be productive. And I ask to be satisfied with what I am able to accomplish and not keep wishing I’d done more.

So the little stuff then, huh Maggie? :)

Joking aside, that seems like a big request! How do you think you can ensure that you get your creative work done on a daily basis & be satisfied with it? I know it’s tough. Maybe there should be an Ideal Goal (like, spend an hour on my decorating every day) & a Good Enough Goal (spend 30 min on my decorating 3 times/wk), along with a treat that you can give yourself if you accomplish it every week. What do you think? How can you be nice to yourself and get your work done at the same time?

Ooh, it seems we are all on the same wave-length. I could ask for peace and calm and to be proud of myself for what I do accomplish, instead of focusing on what I don’t do.

  7. Michelle Says:

Isn’t that such a tough thing to do, blue? I was just talking to a client about how artists are seen by The Outside World as unmotivated slackers. Meanwhile, the only creatives I’ve ever coached are perfectionists who are their own worst critics!
