Tough (Question) Tuesday: What’s your role in the world?

Think of all the titles you hold: daughter, wife, Dad, boss, coach, friend…it can go on & on.
Now, put all those titles out of your head. Whatever applies to you doesn’t, just for this moment.
What’s your role in the world?
I’ll share my personal answer in the comments section. Hope you’ll join me!

This is such a tough one. How can you limit yourself to just one role? I’m a wife, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a coach, a friend, a comedianne, an actress, a singer, an Executive Assistant. I’m here to brighten up a room and make people laugh. I’m here to offer love and support. I’m here to be a shoulder that my family, friends, and clients can cry on. I’m here to be a teammate and cheerleader for those looking to carve their own path full of both passion and stability.
But what is my role – my one role – in the world at large? I think it boils down to my first two values: relationships and passion.
“I’m on this earth to live a passionate life, and be a relationship builder.”
Hmmm…..it still doesn’t sit well with me….
“I’m on this earth to pursue my passions and create a fulfilling life, while sharing that spark with others.”
Seems so simple, doesn’t it?

Gosh Michelle you are right, it IS a tough question. Right now I don’t see myself as having much of a role in terms of responsibilities. I am probably the most free I will ever be in my life right now. I am a daughter, but I live so far away from my family, so not in the sense that I fulfil the role of going for coffees with my mother, it’s more phone calls now.
I guess in terms of priorities in my life I fulfil the role of being as best a friend I can be to the people who matter to me.
I am a coach and my role is to enable people to live amazing lives, and hopefully be inspirational!
I am a writer but not sure if that’s a role unless it’s actually caused any good in the world (which I am pretty sure it hasn’t).
My role as a person, a human being, is to live by my values and be the best person I can be. That is really important to me. So I guess as long as I keep striving for that then all my other roles will just fall in to place!!
I’d love to write this post in 5 years time as well!!!

Sophie – Is that your role, or your mission statement? You’re a coach, a friend and a writer above being a daughter/sister right now, but what is your one role overall? What part are you here to play?

This is a very thought-provoking question! So far I have come up with “to understand others and accept their truths, and to pass on to others the joy I get from art”. I’m still not sure this exactly says it all though – I will continue to think about it!

Thanks for commenting, Angie! What a great role you have in life! But I would trust your gut that there’s something more to it…..is it too simple of a statement? Not simple enough? Does it just not….feel right? As you can tell by my comment I went through the same thing. Keep working at it & let me know what the final product is!
