Organization for Creatives: Using Trello

Michelle Nickolaisen asked me recently if I’d be interested in her writing something for my readers about “a productivity related post, or like, how to get organized & it not suck, or something.” Since that’s something that I know is a huuuuuuge challenge for my clients and creatives in general (which I’m so glad is being tackled by so many amazeballs people – did ya see this post from Laura Simms?), I said “Yes please!” and “A series would rock!” Michelle wanted to start by introducing you to her favorite productivity platform. Enjoy the video and this amazeballs tool!

One of the things creatives are famous for is being disorganized. It’s sort of a running joke – but we all know that being disorganized can also be a huge pain in the butt. However! Most of the time creatives are disorganized because of things that are totally avoidable – like not having easy to use tools to help ‘em out of the disorganization. One of my favorite tools for doing just that is Trello, but I know it can be intimidating without some introduction – so I made the video below to show you some of my favorite ways to use it!

So awesome! This is HUGE for event management when you have multiple contributors to keep up with and they all have tasks. Accountability right here on the web – and it's a checklist… oh how I love a checklist!

The video and the tool are obviously great, but what sold me on Michelle was "the eat chocoalte and watch Buffy" line. I feel I can work better with people that went through those 7 very important years of my life…
