Tough (Question) Tuesday: What’s your word for 2011?

You Are What You Create by fadedfilmstrips, found via kind over matter
Last year, I decided to make my New Year’s Resolution very simple by boiling it down to 1 word: Simplify. And stop picking at my nails. I would say I was more successful with the word then the direct action. Interesting, huh?
So, as 2010 comes to a close…..
What’s your word for 2011?
I normally meet ya in the comments with my reply, but I’m gonna keep ya in suspense ’til tomorrow because I have so much to say ’bout it. Please please don’t let that stop ya from sharing your word, though! I wanna hear, and I promise to read/respond to each one!

Oooh. It feels like the universe has marched up out of
nowhere and slapped me on the face. Hello! My word of 2011 is
"create". As soon as I read this, I immediately recalled some words
posted by Renee on your "How are you Genuine" Tough Question
Tuesday post, only a couple of weeks ago that have obviously stayed
strongly with me: "I take all of the things I love that influence
me, jumble them all up and let my inner child draw pictures all
over them and spew them back out at the world with me all over
them. Instead of trying to be like other people or do things like
other people, I try to take bits and pieces of the world and add
them to my total. Not one thing or one person, but all of the
little things that tweak me and make me who I am and keep me
evolving." I strongly identified with this, having the same train
of thought/enlightenment over the last couple of weeks. And I
posted as my Facebook status earlier today "Many people spend a lot
of time and effort trying to 'find' who they are when they should
be using that energy to simply 'create' who they are". So the
accompanying picture quoting "you are what you create" well, hit me
square in the senses. Blahhh it's all fallin' into place for me!
I'm so freakin' excited over something so simplified! (Haha and
look! I just used YOUR word!)

So funny that you should post this question to us this
morning, since I was just now sitting down at my computer with a
cup of coffee to think about what I want my 2011 to look like. I'm
still going back and forth between a few words, but this morning,
the two that seem to resonate most with me are "trust" and "flame."
Since I'm starting my own business this year, I'm working to trust
myself and my instincts, and I'm trying to always remember that
there's a creative flame inside me no matter how bogged down I
might feel. Cheesy, but strangely inspirational! Thanks for the
interesting question.

"Live" was my word for 2010…and I really did embrace that
word. I've thought a lot about my word for 2011 and some in the
running were wonder, miracle, hope, joy, but, I've chosen my word
for 2011, just recently and it is……..BALANCE. I'm very excited
about it. Happy 2011 my friend!

Two words have picked me for 2011. "Bare" and "Bloom." I
want to be more open and authentic, really bare my soul this year
in my work, my writing & my relationships. And I think that
will lead to the "Bloom"ing part. … Kind of like pruning a
flowering bush.

I'm thinking "act" or "accomplish," but I will have to
continue to ponder this one.

I did this last year with the word Embrace. And I loved the
concept so much I am going full steam ahead this year. I too am
leaning towards create. I love mixed media and my toes are still
getting wet this is the year that I expand and I vow to focus on
creativity and hon the skill. It took me years to realize that many
of the great artists werent amazing from birth, it took years of
practice. So I am going to get to work on practicing and really
growing those skills.

I don't think I can pick a single word. Is it "go", because
I'm going forward on a new path? Is it "do", because I'm trying to
be conscious of doing things, rather than sitting and waiting? Is
it "more" because this year's going to be filled with so much MORE
of the good stuff? Is it "give", because I see there's a lot of
giving to be done on this year's list? Or is it "take", because I'm
taking a whole bunch of experiences and putting them right on my
plate? Is it "food", for obvious reasons? And, as I typed that all
out, I may have hit it (though I refuse to commit, as "commit" is
definitely not my word for 2011). I think my word is
"nourish".

Thank you for posting this question. My word for 2011 came
to me instantly: Believe. Mainly in myself and opportunities. The
second word that came up for me was Trust. Having freshly moved
cross country, I am trusting that I am exactly where I am meant to
be and believing in the opportunities to come. I have been
pondering these lovely thoughts all day. Thank you!

Forward. My word is absolutely Forward. I stole my personal
motto from Walt Disney. Keep Moving Forward. I write it everywhere
and try to remind myself of it as often as possible. No matter what
happens, I try to Keep Moving Forward. @Leysa – I'm so surprised
that my comment stuck with you like that. I'm glad, though. I was
very self conscious after I posted that. I don't often say things
that often in comments or forums and I'm trying to get better about
it. So I went for it. And, now I'm very glad I did!

Ok, I meant I don't often say things that OPEN in

Ohmygosh, you guts are just amazeballs! I was out & about yesterday & just loved loved loved seeing all the comments & words come through when I would check in on my iphone. You are all so inspirational! I know 2011 will be a fantabulous year for us all, simply because we're starting it by putting some thought and love behind it. Yay!

Wow, now you've got me thinking! I was going to say ENJOY
b/c I plan to spend the next 3 months on maternity leave doing just
that. But then I'll be going back to work in April, and while I
will enjoy that too, it seemed too simple of a word to capture the
active engagement it will require to balance it all. And BALANCE
seemed to dry to convey the joy in arriving where I am, where I've
worked and waited to be for so long. My career is exactly where I
want it to be; my family is a joy to watch unfold, and I want the
work of it all not to out-shadow the the fun and gratefulness I
feel. So REVEL, I think, is my word for 2011. Not simply to enjoy
it, or just to seek balance, but to REVEL in it while I do both of
those things.
