Client Show & Tell: Giveaway & Discount from Interior Designer Maggie Rose!

officemakeover

One of Maggie office moodboards! Ain’t it super pretty pants? I just love that print!

Yay hooray! It’s the very first day of Client Show & Tell! While I don’t leave for my vacation ’til later today (off to Niagara Falls to celebrate my Ma-in-law’s 65th!), I’m busy coachin’ & packin’ today. Every day this week & into next, I’ll have a guest post from one of my clients. Ain’t that amazeballs? I gave them carte blanche to submit whatever they wanted (it is Show & Tell, after all), so expect some pretty pictures, a vabulous (like “fabulous”, but with a “v”)video, a recommended reading report & some decorating designs. I know. My clients are the awesomest.

Hi When I Grow Up readers! I’m Maggie of interior design and lifestyle blog Maggie Rose - where I talk about pretty rooms, gardening tips, my own home projects, and online vintage shop. I also tackle the big, the bad, and the ugly though my e-decorating services – an online interior design consulting service that focuses on getting the room that my clients want without spending the big bucks.

In fact, because I know a lot of you are either working from home or doing some work from home (in the evenings and on weekends counts too!), I wanted to share my knowledge and offer up one full-service e-decorating guide for a home office space to one of Michelle’s awesome readers FOR FREE. After all, it’s hard to get motivated and inspired when the room is too cluttered, disorganized, or painted drab yucky colors with bad lighting (sound familiar?)!

A full guide is five pages of decor info, and starts with a review of the space you want to make over. We come up with some awesome inspiration photos and ideas. Then I summarize the plan, show you items and how they should be arranged, and give you a step-by-step guide on how to put it all together (with links for products if you want to buy those exact pieces).

So what do you need to enter? A space – can’t make something out of nothing, but it doesn’t have to be a full room! A corner of the living room, a nook in the kitchen, just some space you can dedicate to your creative business (keeping in mind your own personal needs depending on what that business is). You also need to think a little bit about what you’re willing to spend. If it’s close to zero or under $100-200 with all the basics but you need major organization, I can work with that. If you’ve got a huge budget I can work with that too! But if you don’t want to spend anything (or under, say, $75) and you still need a desk, storage, paint, etc… then maybe think of how much you would be willing to save up to spend or even if this is the right opportunity for you. It’s all about timing!

Leave a comment on this post with the phrase “My home office needs Maggie!” along with your email address and a brief recap of what your working situation is and what you need help with by Tue the 20th at 12p Eastern. I’ll follow up with the winner (announced here on the 21st) via email about budget and with a full questionnaire so we can get the process started!

And just because you guys are ALL awesome and moving forward on your dreams, I’m offering a discount to you for my services for ANY room of your house (minus major kitchen remodels) for only $60 – that’s $15 less than my usual price. Just let me know that you read about it here and that you’re a fan of the Amazing Michelle’s. Email me at maggie@maggieroseonline.com.

Happy decorating, and good luck in your creative endeavors!

"My home office needs Maggie!” I am starting a freelance writing business and would like to separate my "office" from my "library." These two spaces have to share a room, but I need to make sure that I'm not distracted by over 1000 books. So far, my idea of splitting the room in two is not working. I could use some help!

My home office needs Maggie! My partner and I are moving into a new apartment in mid-August, meaning that we're starting absolutely from scratch, as we have no furniture to speak of (save for my secretary desk). I'm a writer (see my website for more information) and would love a space of my own — problem is, there aren't any divided spaces in the home apart from kitchen/bedroom/living room. Since we're starting over, I need help with figuring out where the office should go, in addition to how it could look, etc. Thanks for your consideration!

Michelle, I live in Niagara Falls! So funny to think you're going to be so close-by. I assume you'll be on the American side whereas I live on the Canadian side – have a great time, I'll be sending you love from across the river :)

"My home office needs Maggie!" I've started off the process by painting the walls white (I heart white walls) and putting a coat of primer on a shelving unit. My inspiration is Marie Antoinette (the movie), I want it to be feminine. I have some ideas, but I'm unsure of how to put it together. I feel sort of stuck at this moment now and due to busyness, the process has been put on hold for a few months. I now have more time to dedicate to it and would love to get it finished soon. My budget isn't that big, around $100-150. I do already have a desk, shelving unit, fabric for curtains, and a frame for a bulletin board. I'd absolutely love your input!

"My home office needs Maggie!" I am a nanny and graduate student at night! I spend half of my adult life working in my office on my masters. Right now my office is the room that collects odds and ends from the rest of the house. It definitely needs a touch of love! Fingers crossed!

“My home office needs Maggie!” (Yay Maggie!)

We have a room in our house that is the office/studio. There is a long desk where we keep out laptops, a large IKEA Expedit bookcase that is unorganized and stresses me out looking at it and an old "kitchen" table with an enameled metal top (I love it, but it need to be repainted). And a concrete floor. I've recently painted the walls and added two lamps to the long desk. We also have a floor lamp that I love. There's little organization and not enough work surface, and probably lacks proper lighting. HELP!

Okay, first of all — WHOA! I am FINALLY up to date on my google reader posts! I was reading this thinking to myself, "Ooh cool Michelle is coming near me! Wait, when did she go on this trip. Hold on, she wrote this TODAY? Whaaaaaaaaat? I'm finally up to date! Holy shit!" hahahaha.

SO. Have an awesome trip! I'll be talking to you on Thursday and I'm sure I'll hear a little bit about it then, but I hope you're having an amazing time! (And be sure to come over to the Canadian side to see our water fall, because it's a looooooot better. Just saying! Haha.)

Okay, and HEY MAGGIE! Haha. My home office DEFINITELY needs Maggie! Right now I'm typing this on the dining room table! Haha. The home office/craft space is in need of some MAJOR organization!

    My home office needs Maggie!

This poor room was supposed to be an art studio / office, but since we moved in and had a baby 2 weeks later, it became the room with all the moving boxes. 20 months later, even though we've mostly unpacked, it's still the catchall room with a makeshift desk and a little table for my calligraphy. I don't even paint in here right now. I have some usable pieces, and the room has the best fireplace in the house -original 1910 oak with the long rectangle tiles. But I need HUGE organizational help and some direction. I can probably stretch my budget to $300 (more if I can get hubby on board)!

Also, thanks for the introduction to your blog and services, I've been reading away, and have bookmarked it!

“My home office needs Maggie!” – I recently bought a house and was so excited to have a room to dedicate to a creative space where I could start working on craft projects again – previously I was living in a very small apartment and all of my crafting/sewing supplies were boxed up. We painted the room as soon as we moved in…and thats about all! Since we have a lot of family and friends that come to visit, this room needs to also function as a guest room – at least housing a futon/bed. I have some ideas, but am not sure how to arrange the room so that it serves both purposes. I could really use help!

My husband and I are trying to create a home office for our bookkeeping/accounting business and are struggling with it, to say the least. Our budget is very small, we are working around a masculine oak roll top desk, and my desire for clean modern lines. As you can probably tell … getting the two of us on the same page is a bit of a challenge. I could use some expert advice!

  11. Erin Says:

“My home office needs Maggie!” But really, it's my kitchen eating area that needs a little love. It is small and kind of narrow and the table I originally bought doesn't really work. I could definitely use some expert advice. Thanks!

  12. tiffany Says:

My bedroom needs Maggie!! I was going to say my home office, but I think I've got a pretty good plan for that. We live in a teeny, tiiiny house where storage is at a minimum. Therefore the bedroom has become the place where things pile up. I want something serene and relaxing! We have good things to work with already, but need MAYH-JOR help with furniture arrangment. And wall paint! And art!

"My home office needs Maggie" I am trying to create an office space in my mom's older home so that she doesn't have to do all her bookkeeping on the kitchen table and counters! There is a "dead corner" in the kitchen area with a great window that I think would make a cute little office area but I am having trouble deciding how to put it all together. Mom is not very organized and really needs your help to get everything in it's place. I think both our lives will be much happier once she has her own special space for doing her work. We need your help Maggie!
