@Tara - I think that Prioritizing is one of the toughest things we need to do as grown-ups! I hate it, personally - my Renaissance Soul just won't allow it sometimes, especially when I like doing everything that's on my list! I've been focusing more on, um, focusing on what's easiest, or what feels the best at the time. That felt a bit "wrong" when I first started to make decisions that way, but now it's the best/only way to go!

@Tiffany - Thanks for the amazeballs perspective! And you're absolutely right - I'm planning to spend my whole life as a coach, so not everything needs to happen rightthisminute. Relief!

@Maggie - You bring up such a great point: adjusting & being realistic! Sometimes our goals/efforts are just too big for our lives, & while we'd love to, say, exercise every day, we know that it'll never happen. By being realistic & adjusting our commitments (& really committing to what we're committing to!) we can make things happen. And if it makes you feel better, I have an e-book on the back burner, too :)

@April - Amen & hallelujah!

@nycgirl0501 - You go, girl (yes, I really just said that)! I still have the last 3 episodes of Glee in my DVR. Some things just aren't as important as others / can be used as rewards along the way!

Ever since we went to the blogging events I've been filled with new ideas for posts, the blog, networking and preparing for Blogher10. It seems like I won't be ready in time for the conference. My spare time is spent fixing up my blog, reading books for book reviews for the blog, and just chatting away with my new friends on Twitter/FB/Blogs. None of which I want to give up.

Other things like time with family & friends are not negotiable. I want to watch all the soccer with my dad & mom. I want to go to the beach with my sister & celebrate the 4th. I am going to see Eclipse tomorrow night with my BFF. Time with people is not something that can go mostly because the other hours of the day I'm at work and that is mildly entertaining ;)

The one thing I should give up is mindless TV watching. I'm a big reality TV junkie, movie junkie, etc. The TV is on all the time even if I'm not watching So I am aiming today to not watch TV after 8pm...maybe after 9pm. Let's see if it works.

It sounds like everybody's really busy! I totally know the feeling. This week and next I'm adding soooo much to my plate so that I can help my family with some big things. To make room for all of that, I'm getting rid of guilt. I'm not going to feel bad if I can't get to everything, because that's not productive. I'm working really hard to prioritize and use my time wisely. Anything that can wait, will. :) Good luck to everybody!

I can think of one BIG thing I'd like to take off my plate ;)

But behaving rationally (boo!) I would say that it's usually easiest for me to adjust my timetables a little - not giving up on something entirely, just being reasonable in the amount of time I have to devote to something RIGHT NOW. What needs to be done (bill paying, Ryan's birthday) comes first, and then the left-overs I judge by energy-needed-to-accomplish and time-sensitivity. Because that's all stuff I want to be doing (blog and business related). So right now, my e-book is on the back burner because I want to focus on the plates I already have started spinning and have invested some amount of money in. My exercise-every-day thing never even got started because it was unrealistic - but I think I can adjust my timetable and commit to a 30 minute workout the 3 days I'm home.

Plus Ryan says I need to take a vacation so maybe that will help me regroup anyway. We'll see when I can fit THAT in! :)

This is a good one! I've been feeling some overwhelm too, and just keep reminding myself that the work isn't going anywhere -- stuff will still be there next week, etc. As I'm trying to grow my business, I keep trying to remember that slow and steady wins the race...that I have my whole life to run this business, so I can't expect everything to be perfect overnight. That patience sure is a tough one ;)

I am having this same problem this week. All of a sudden I have a TON of stuff to do and not enough time to do them in. Not sure how to handle it but I understand your feelings. I'm going to look at my "to do" list and just try to prioritize what needs to get done first although doing that is another beast of it own. Hang in there and hopefully we'll get past this feeling!! ;)
