Hugs Will Lift You Up by Jessica Swift

Since Sunday, I’ve been helping out Jess Swift & Khristian A. Howell with their awesometastic booths at Surtex at the Jacob Javits Center. I’m having so much fun being their fort-holders (y’know, holding down their fort when they hafta step away) & lunch orderer/runner (my code name on the walkie talkie is FloJo!) that I keep forgetting that I’m actually helping them.

So, the question for today’s gotta be:

How can you help?

They say that life is sweetest when you’re helping someone else. In this case, it’s absolutely true! Jess & Khristian are so sweet & so talented & so funny that I’m sometimes amazed that they even let me near ‘em :) So brighten someone’s day that you love – or wanna get to know better – & ask, “How can I help?” Like always, use the comments to discover what you wanna help with & strengthen the commitment to ask that tough question! You can so do it.

I started a little project where I put money and other things(note cards, jewelry I made, lotto tickets, super market gift cards) in brown paper bags. Then I gave them to other people with the directions to use the contents in an act of service, what ever that means to them.
I started it when I was given a gift of some money and continue it whenever I have some extra goodies around. I like to inspire service, especially when people start worrying about giving because they don't have enough. It's a really fun project and I love to hear how people used the bags.

Jo Anna, that's so awesome! I'd love to hear those stories as to how the people you gave the gifts to used them in an act of service. You're spreading so much good in the world. Yay!

It's always great to have this reminder. It's one of the things lacking in my life at the moment – reaching outside myself regularly. Thank you for encouraging me to do it more often!

  4. Michelle Says:

Absolutely, Jen! And I have a feeling that you're reaching out/helping more than you're giving yourself credit for. You might wanna take a closer look! :)
