Hmmmm. That is a tough question. I often doubt what I know, so I am never really sure what itis exactly that I do know. So…I'm going to marinate on that for a bit…

  2. Michelle Says:

Hey Alisha! Can I give you a big, bold challenge to do the opposite of what you said you were gonna & actually do a big stream-of-consciousness list of What I Know. Set the timer for 5 minutes (or 3!) & try to come up with as many as you can. Don't put too much pressure on yourself – it could be things like "Grilled cheese with tomato on rye is the best lunch ever" or "The Violent Femmes always make me dance" or "It looks like I have an enormous head if I don't have bangs." Not that any of those things are things that I know ;) It might loosen things up for ya & be fun to boot!

Hey Michelle! I've been enjoying your blog for a little while now, but I don't think I've left a comment. So I wanted to say hi, and thanks for writing and sharing. I was so excited for you that you were able to quite your day job! I liked your list of what you know, here are some of mine:

    - I function better when I can ease into the day calmly with a cup of tea

    - flowers make my heart sing

    - It is easier for me to be happier in the spring and summer, I have to work for it more in the other half of the year

    - Taking responsibility for my life is scary, but feels so much better in the end

    - learning to love myself and those around me more and more is the single biggest adventure in my life ( although not the only one)

Those were the first that came to mind. Good luck with everything!

  4. tiffany Says:

Ah, this is so good!! I wanna do this exercise — that's what I know now :) I'll share my list in the comments when I write it!

  5. tiffany Says:

And, ps. You are REALLY good at this coaching thing. For reals.

  6. Carmen Says:

LOVE this Michelle! Your list is so inspiring!

-Little actions can make a big impact.

    -Enthusiasm and action breed confidence.

-I am a kick ass cheerleader… and innerpreneurs need cheerleaders.

    -Smiles really are contagious.

-I was born to do this.

-I AM a ball of awesomeness.

-I make awesome messes with art supplies.

-My dreams matter and so do yours.

-Looking at the stars and the clouds feels like endless possibilities… every single time.

-I am a better mom and wife when I’m happy.

-It really is ok to ask for help.

    -People need to be inspired.

    -It's time.

    xo & belief in you,

    Carmen

Hey Michelle! I just found your blog, but you can bet I'll be back time and time again.

My husband lost his job yesterday, so I've been living in the midst of uncertainty for over 24 hours. It's good for me to concentrate on what I know, instead of what I'm afraid of.

    – I know that everything will be okay. It always is.

    – I know that life is good.

    – I know that there are people who love us, support us, and encourage us.

    – I know that my husband and I have a strong bond — and that's more important than what he does for a living.

    – I know my husband will land on his feet.

    – I know that he's already happier in some ways.

    – I know it's okay to cry.

I'm sure I know lots of other things, but that's enough to get me started!

Thanks again, Michelle — and Carmen for tweeting about your post!

  8. Nailah Says:

Oh wow! What an awesome list! Let's see, I know….

    -I can do this

-listening to my heart will always lead me in the right direction

-being bold & taking risks is scary but oh so worth it

    -positivity is contagious

    -there's nothing a little laughter can't solve

    -love truly does conquer all

That's all I have right now but I'll definitely keep adding to the list. Great question!

    Nailah

  9. Alisha Says:

Michelle, that is a great idea! I will trackback or post my link for you :-)

  10. Nicole J. Butler Says:

This is a wonderful exercise. I know it's no longer Tuesday, but …

    I know that:

    *Happiness is a choice.

*Bright colors make me feel all warm and sunny inside.

    *Sleep is yummy.

    *Creativity is my life's blood.

*I feel so good when I'm truly useful and appreciated.

*I need to shut my mouth more often and make sure my ego isn't masquerading as my heart.

*There's a smiley face in the lower left-hand corner of this webpage, and it made me giggle out loud.

    *I have everything I need.

*That there are as many ways to do a thing as there are people doing it.

*When I care more about people than they care about themselves it eats away at me.

*We're all better than we think we are.

    *Debt = slavery.

    *"Can't" means nothing.

*Not all selfishness is bad and not all selflessness is good.

    *Guilt is pointless.

    –Nicole

@Cindy – I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough week. I truly believe that when one door closes, another opens. (hugs) Glad you followed the link over here. Michelle's blog is chock full of food for thought, super advice, inspiration and overall awesomeness! ♥

    xo,

    Carmen

  12. Michelle Says:

You ladies are rock stars! Holy crapamoli.

@Jadyn – Thanks for reading & now, thanks for commenting! Isn't it fun to take that leap? And most of all, thanks for sharing What You Know! Your "take responsibility" one really resonated with me, because it's what I'm doing now & is possibly the scariest thing I've ever done, but I KNOW it was be for the best in the end. I didn't quite see it that way until you eloquently stated it. Thank you for that.

@Tiffany – Can't wait to see it! And thanks for the reinforcement :)

@Carmen – Your list, your list! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to be overwhelmed by the sky every time I take time to look at it (and now, more than ever, a sky full of stars overwhelm me since I rarely see 'em in NYC). Sometimes I think it's humbling, other times I think it's motivational, but either way – what inspiration. And it IS time, isn't it? Why yes – yes it is.

@Cindy – Can I commend you for not only keeping your head above water today, but in taking action to give yourself peace in this moment. Very awesome & inspiring. Thank you for visiting & thank you for sharing your list! Your blog is fantabulous, too – congrats on your acceptance to the art show!

@Nailah – "Positivity is contagious" really resonated with me. I think you can also add that it's energizing, too! I love hearing my clients tell me that they have more energy after our sessions than they did going in. I think the fact that we focus on the positive is super tied into that.

    @Alisha – Awesome! Can't wait!

@Nicole – So glad you didn't let Wednesday keep you from this list! And can I tell you that a reader had to point out that smiley face for me? I had no idea it was there! And how much do I love "Not all selfishness is bad & not all selflessness is good"?! Um, " a lot" is the answer. Love your list!

    @Carmen – (blush)

  13. Alisha Says:

@Nicole – I love your list; a lot of it resonates with me :-)

  14. Cindy Jones Lantier Says:

Michelle and Carmen — thanks so much for your kind words and thoughts. We're doing okay. In fact, my husband didn't particularly like his job, so I see a positive change in him already. I've done this exercise dozens of times, quickly in my head, whenever I start to get overwhelmed and it really helps to center me and calm me down. Thanks again!

  15. Cindy Jones Lantier Says:

PS — Thanks, Michelle, for visiting my blog. Being accepted into the art show was the highlight of my month!
