@Kylie - Amen & hallelujah! I think I will absolutely forget about this in a month's time. OK, maybe not a month, but I think in a month from now I'll look back & say, "Wow, that was tough. But worth it." Maybe it's supposed to be tough because it's something I really want. The War of Art says that the harder/scarier something is, the more fulfilling it'll be when you do it. Maybe this was meant to be even harder than it was supposed to be because it'll make the result that much sweeter.

@Alexandra - Soup + wine. I like that combo. I think you nailed it on the head - I need comfort. I take comfort in my friends, my husband, my bathtime, a glass of wine, some apple juice. I'm gonna make sure I'm extra comforted this week.

@Katy - I love the imaginary story idea! There must be something I'm supposed to be going through/not missing right now. I think I also have to hold on to the idea of "everything happens for a reason." I'm trying to come up with very many reasons as to why this is happening, no matter how ridiculous. I'm adding the winning billion dollar lottery ticket to the list!

Grrr! Yes, I sure do know this feeling and...grrr! Crying it out is always a good start, and then in addition to the breathing and escaping into TV recommended above (I highly agree with both!), I like to make up a totally imaginary story about my future that explains why things absolutely had to work out this way, like if it didn't you would have ended up missing out on a billion dollar lotto ticket. I know the story isn't true, but it always makes me feel a little better. Hope the Great Thing happens soon!

Ah! So frustrating! This kind of thing always happens to me when I'm in a transition period. Like when I'm switching jobs, or moving somewhere new, or graduating from something or other. I fully endorse a good tantrum followed by curling up in bed with your significant other and watching reruns of Friends or How I Met Your Mother. But besides that, there's always this: In a few weeks, when you're in the midst of your Really Cool Thing, you will have forgotten this short period of frustration. Or at least that's what always happens for me. And hopefully, this experience will make you even more excited and ready to go with what you're getting started.

@Carmen - Isn't it amazing how good breathing feels, & how often we forget to do it? And yes, I think there is a lesson here, & I like it being: "Maybe the Universe knows how much you rock and needs more time to prepare some other people for your awesomeness." This must be it.

@Jessica - I'm in NYC but close to Bryant Park, & that's exactly where I went for my lunch hour. It's the warmest day we've had in months & I was so happy to be able to eat outside. I thought, "Even if my whole's day crappy, I have this hour." It did make me feel better.

Thanks ladies!

I recommend a trip to nature as soon as humanly possible. It is the only thing big enough to melt away my biggest stress. I forget where you are: do you have a forest, a lake, a river, the ocean or even a park with big trees nearby? Bundle up and spend an hour there.

Oh Michelle, I'm so sorry things are panning out in accordance with your plan. I agree with the sentiment in KRR's painting. Hold on.

My favorite relaxation technique... close your eyes. (well, after you read the next 3 lines anyway) and

Inhale.
Exhale.
Repeat.

Ok, do it now. Yes, now. You can read on when you're done.

Maybe there's a lesson to be learned (either for you or someone else) in this.
Maybe the Universe knows how much you rock and needs more time to prepare some other people for your awesomeness.
Maybe it could be a million different things.... either way, it is what it is and knowing you, you're going to knock it out of the park either way.

If there is anything I can do to cheer for you in the meantime, I'm here!

Mucho love,
Carmen
