My Newsweek Video Is Up! My Newsweek Video Is Up!
Holy crapballs, is this exciting. Maybe even more so because after the video was pushed back for the second time, I resigned myself to seeing it in March. Or May. Or 2011. But not before the week was over!
Put Me In, Life Coach is a 5-minute video on Newsweek.com that profiles me as one of the 15,000 (!) life coaches out there. You’ll hear how I found my way to coaching, how I got accredited, my definition of a life coach, & even see me coaching a client & hear her thoughts about being coached! I stand corrected: holy crapballs, this is super exciting.
Oh, and if you’ve found your way here because of this super awesome video, Welcome! Click around & stay for a while – there’s a ton of neat stuff both on my blog & in my site. This is my home on the Interwebs, & you’re always welcome!
Once more for good measure: holy crapballs.

Can I tell you how much I love this video? You did a great job speaking and the editors did a great job with the scene and set up. You shined!

Thanks, Jess! That means the world. I definitely put the Jess LC necklace you gave us Spring girls on that morning with the intention of keeping your support with me during the interview. It absolutely worked! It was amazing how relaxed & confident I felt about the whole thing (despite the fear I usually have around describing coaching – sometimes consultation calls make me sweat!).

Congratulations, Michelle! This is such a big deal — and I'm so excited for all the opportunities that it will undoubtedly bring!

Thanks, Meggy! If it brings me more new friends like you, I'll be super happy.

Holy crapballs! Can we have an ARTICULATE! Can we have an ENGAGING! Can we have a CONTAGIOUS! This is big deal huge; congratulations! I've only found your site in the last TWO WEEKS and am slowly making my way through all your posts, taking IDEA NOTES as I go. (P.S. and loving every moment). Way to go.

Toni, I'm grinning from ear to ear. Thanks for your comments & enthusiasm & reinforcement! The producer had two hours of footage to work with, & I'm so glad he kept in the stuff that makes me look good
And ohmygosh, I can't believe you're taking idea notes from my blog! That is just…wow…through the roof!
Y'know when you have one of those weeks that just feels so validating? I'm totally having one of those weeks.

Congratulations! I loved the video and your sparkly flower so much, I've linked to the video in my weekly roundup: http://www.yogademia.com/2010/01/yoginis-choice-2…. Again, kudos on being the one out of 15,000!

Dude. You rock. Like seriously. Can I get your autograph?!
Please, please, please publish the story about how you landed that gig. All of us other coaches can really learn a thing or three from you.

Just watched your Newsweek video on Life Coaching. You did an awesome job. It was quite a bit longer than I thought it might be, from what you said before and I thought you did a good job in covering what a Life Coach is. Congratulations on this big break into some more exposure for your business.

@Shell – Yup, that sums it up – totally proud. It's such a great feeling.
@Kiki – That's so awesome! I tweeted about your post. Y'know, anyone reading this just 5 years ago would have no idea what we were talking about
@Cassandra – Of course! And honestly, there's no "story" – I was contacted by the video producer who found me from the blog interview I did on Lolalina. I have no idea how he got there, or why he thought I'd be good for the piece, but part of me thinks it was a location thing, too – he's just a few 'hoods over from me in Brooklyn. He emailed me on a Wed in the late afternoon to ask if I was free to tape the next day. Of course, I dropped everything & made myself available! That's the whole story. Craziness, huh?
@Melissa – It was longer than I thought, too! The video producer said that Newsweek.com rarely does videos over 2 or 3 minutes, but that he had a 13-min one & an 8-min one approved previously. I also had no idea that the video would just be, um, about me! So I was just as shocked & thrilled when I saw it!

And how did you get on Lolalina? There is wisdom in your process for us.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
@Cassandra – I wish it was something more than, "I took Holly Becker's Blogging Your Way e-class, & so did Laura at Lolalina, & she asked to do an interview with me on her blog, & so I did." That was it!

Great job! My Sister-In-Law is a certified Life Coach (currently on hiatus until her youngest daughter goes to Kindergarden next year) and she is coaching me through a career transition and being a new parent. I think everyone should have a Life Coach, it really is a matter of putting that puzzle together, I have all the pieces I just need some help assembling them. You did a great job at explaining what you all do, etc. Kudos!!! I come to your site for encouragement and inspiration too. Thank you so much and keep up all the great, positive work!!!

Aw, thanks Jenny! I'm super proud of it. And I love that you have a life coach for a sister! Although I gotta say that I stay far, far away from coaching My Loved Ones, as it's super hard for me to reserve judgment with them & not slap 'em upside the head sometimes, which is, um, not great behavior for a life coach.

Seriously. How much do you rock?! WTG!

The answer to that question is: A lot. Ha!
Thanks for the encouragement, Jamie!
