Great Big Excitement & The Vampires That Come With It
I was a super big Facebook & Twitter tease last week, where I got a whirlwind request that blew my freaking mind off. It was Great Big Excitement & yet….I wasn’t excited. OK, I was for a moment or two, & then…..stilted. Stifled. Stuffed in a closet & suffocated. So, why was I acting super cool? I wasn’t sure….but I brought out the video camera anyway to talk about it. And yes, I disclose the Great Big Excitement, which I actually learned will be live to the world this Wed, the 13th. Because of that, we relaunched my site early (a new design! online scheduling & payment! free resources! cartoon people!) & it’s live as of yesterday! With my 32nd birthday on Thursday, all this change & Great Big Excitement might give me a heart attack.

Hurray!! I'm so freaking excited for you! You are wonderful and you should be able to get excited for yourself! I know I need to do a better job of that too because it's my way to always expect the worst and be excited when I get the best.
How did the reported find you to ask you about the piece? Did he just Google "super awesome New York life coach"? ; )
Oh and I love that flower in your hair! Super cute!

Sara, thanks for saying that about the flower! I wore it for the interview (I think it's super-cute too), but then when I filmed this & saw it, I was worried that it just looked like something weird growing out of my head. Hope it'll read on camera! And thanks, too, for your words about the excitement. It's good to know I ain't alone! Aren't you always waiting for the other shoe to drop when something great comes 'round? That's what I'm working on NOT doing no mo'.
Oh, and the reporter found me via the blog interview I did on Lolalina! Ain't that nuts?!

"Focus on what you're doing right and do more of it." I LOVE THAT!!! So simple… yet scary and hard too isn't it?
I am SO excited for you. I'm so, so happy (and grateful!) to have "met" you when I did. Big things are in your future. Big! HUGE! And I'm so happy that I get to witness it! You are an inspiration!
Mmmmwhaaaa,
Carmen

Congratulations!! And bravo to you for being honest and sharing your fears with all of us so we don't feel so super alone in everything!
I think you're right. It's all about trust and support. You're gonna rock the interview!

Oh my goodness! that's completely awesome Michelle! Super gigantic congratulations to you! And I add my thanks to you for being so honest and open about the mixed response you're having right now. You totally rock.

Ahhhhhhh! FAB!

P.S. Totally just got goosebumps like, 5 times, for you!
January 11th, 2010 at 12:22 pm
Thanks so much, all you guys! You're making this a super awesome time for me.
@Carmen – Why the hell is it so hard to just do more of what you like/are good at? It's that dumb vampire telling us it's not enough, or we're not allowed. Stupid vampire!
@Tiffany – Now that this is all out in the open, I want to talk about/get excited about it even less! Isn't that crazy! I'm all in waiting-for-the-other-shoe to drop mode. I think I'm nervous about how it'll turn out (& if I'll even appear in the video!). Y'know, I did extra work on SNL in a sketch that made it to air, & while I told everyone to look for me, it turned out the only part of me in the shot was my elbow! So, I'm celebrating the achievement but not the finished product. Yet.
@Sarah – Yay for me! And you're welcome for displaying the scared/vulnerable side of me. That's why life coaches have liufe coaches!
@Krista – When I sit with my eyes closed & breathe & think about all this, I get goosebumps too. It also makes me smile. I need to do that more often.

Super big WOO HOO for you, Michelle! Get freakin' excited for yourself! You ARE doing the right things! Keep on keepin' on, lady! And even if you end up on the cutting room floor… NEWSWEEK STILL EMAILED YOU! You make a difference or they would not have emailed you! Just remember that and then get all running all over the house again excited!

Michelle, that is AWESOME! You rock. This is huge. Continue trusting yourself. And I hope you find a special way to celebrate
January 11th, 2010 at 5:19 pm
Yay, Michelle!! Congrats! I know how hard it can be to celebrate success at times, so I think it's awesome that you're noticing it and bringing on the kudos.
So, I'm throwing some celebratory confetti in your honor!! woot!
January 11th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
@Vickie – Amen & hallelujah! That is exactly my frame of mind. Letting myself pat myself on the back for being approached, for following through, & for doing a kick-ass job (if I do so myself) with 45 min or so of questions was a real boost to my confidence (as well as some major validation!) & something I'm totally proud of. Even if I end up on the cutting room floor, it doesn't negate anything else. Y'know, I'm now thinking of the finished video as a product of my accomplishment – not on the accomplishment itself. And there I go running all over the apartment!
@Ana – I gotta practice what I preach – thanks for reminding me! This Big News is caught up in my birthday, & I haven't thought of something I'm going to do that's separate from those plans to celebrate. I'll come up with something good – promise!
@Leah – I love that celebratory confetti! It's raining on me here in Brooklyn
Thanks for being such a support!

Congratulations! It's so awesome that you're putting yourself out there and are proud of yourself, no matter what happens! What a great thing to remember.

Thank you for the accolades, Mariss! As we're getting closer to Wednesday I'm realized how it's all out of my hands, & how it would be nice for the Newsweek video to be something I can put on my Press page, but how it would be the icing on the cake of something that's already a feather in my cap.
