Tough (Question) Tuesday: Does this make my life better?

I have to admit, I stole this question from Unclutterer. While they mean for you to ask it about your stuff (& I’m so doing it now that I’m packing up. I wanna get rid of everything!), I think you can ask it about your life.

So, think of your obligations: your job, your friendships that you might think are going sour, all those extracurricular activities that are clogging up your free time. Now ask yourself:

Does this make my life better? and/or Does this add value to my life?

Thankfully, I've uncluttered my life enough to know that I'm only committing myself to what makes it better. Whether it's a client or a social date or buying an apartment with views of Manhattan – it all adds value to my my days.

Because I am moving & do want to go with just "the essentials" (even though we're more than doubling our closet space!), I've been thinking of this question in terms of my "stuff", whether it be clothes or candles or containers. I think I'm really observing when I feel that I look great (& therefore are clothes I should keep/buy more of) & when I feel I, uh, don't (& therefore are clothes I should get rid of, even if they serve "a purpose" like, um, working in a corporate setting). I think I'm a bit more muddled by the "stuff", because a lot of the times you feel like you might "need" it one day. I can see now that it's BS. I'm going to certainly ask myself this tough question when I decide what goes in the To Move pile & what goes in the To Donate pile!

This is such a great question! And is totally up the MakeunderMyLife way of thinking! I might repost about this with a wonderful credit to you in the near future :) .

So far I running through my head I haven't found a "no" to this question yet. But that means I have some thinking to do…

OF COURSE I was thinking of you when I read the Unclutterer post & wrote this question, too. And since I'm about to start purging & packing, I should have lots of pics to send your way soon!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with after The Thinking. And yes, post away!
