Think of that crappy thing that just happened to you. Yeah, you know the one. Your plumbing exploded, or you lost your job, or your fish passed away (the last one just happened to me. RIP, Snoop Fishy Fish). Super sucky.

Let yourself feel it for a while. Wallow, if you must. Now ask yourself:

If there’s a lesson to be learned here, what is it?

The crappy thing that happened to me lately is that the odds are telling us we won't make the Sept deadline to submit our co-op board package, which means we don't get interviewed until Nov, which means we'll have to live with my Mom & stepfather for 2-4 weeks or so. Don't get me wrong, my Mom & stepdad are lovely & will make us feel so welcome & invited (I have a feeling there might be balloons & banners when we arrive), but the hourlong train ride into & out of the city each day during rush hour is gonna be super duper sucky.

What this suckiness is allowing me to learn is that life isn't always flexible, & I need to learn how to roll with the punches without getting stressed out/complaining. And that, in the grand scheme of things, this could be a much, much worse situation – like having NOWHERE to go for those 2-4 weeks!

    Ok…here's my story…

Yesterday, I was trying to get my home assignment turned in on time and I was playing it real close. I had the thought that I should ask for help, but I dismissed it cause "I can do it!", right? Wrong. I had a bit of a cough, so I took a double dose of cough syrup. Yeah, 30 minutes later, I was high as a kite! At this point, I realized…I NEED HELP! I was forced to ask for help. I had to ask someone to get me something to eat so I could stop floating. And, I figured it would be a good idea to get a little help from one of my classmates so I wouldn't be late turning in my home assignment. A chicken sandwich and large fry later…I felt better, and I got my assignment done waaay early. Yay me! And, yes, I learned my lesson!! I promise! :)

Tiko, are you promoting drug use? :) That story is too funny – but what a great lesson! Now just promise to apply it even when you don't have a cough….

I recently ran into some money issues. I won't get into the details but the lesson learned: I know how to increase my income. I need to get on that, pronto.

  7. Michelle Says:

Well, that seems like an awesome lesson, Cory! You might wanna bottle that up real nice & sell it :)
