Celebrate Small Successes from things we forget

Think of that goal that you recently accomplished. Even if it was a baby goal, or a baby step to a bigger goal, give yourself permission to think about it now. Sit with it a while. Explore how you got there and all the hard work you put into accomplishing that goal or making that step. Revel in it.

Now ask yourself:

What are you going to do to celebrate?

I’ll start off the answers in the comments section, but then it’s your turn!

I'm graduating, baby – and I'm throwing a party! Woo hoo! That's a big fat celebration that's already been planned. You can come, too! http://is.gd/F9py

I'm thinking though of the smaller things. I never did celebrate launching my newsletter, and I'm afraid that will slip away now that I'm in the routine of it. So, in honor of launching my newsletter, I'm gonna treat myself to…a massage. I both need one & I want one, & goshdarnit I'm gonna get one!

Massage sounds so wonderful :) . I want one now too!

I have been working on getting rid of a lot of clutter — baby steps each day. I've wanted to do this for so long, but never jumped in and started. I started about a week ago and have been very consistent.

What will I do to celebrate? I am totally going to copy you and book a massage! I've had a gift card for about 9 months that I haven't used yet (time to use it!).

Steal away! And don't ever hold on to a free massage for 9 months! That is a sin.

    Michelle,

Thank you for this post! I am the queen of not celebrating the little successes. I am moving to NY in 5 days and while there is a ton to be done before I move, I need to take a little time to reflect on all I have accomplished in my 9 months here. I have so much to celebrate. One last night of Tex Mex with my friends in Houston is how I am going to celebrate!

Have a margarita for me! And some guac. And some quesadillas. And some fried ice cream. Can you tell I love Mexican food?

Where in NY are you moving to? If you're near the city I'd be happy to show you where you can find some great Tex Mex!

    Now I'm hungry.

Wow, I never even thought of celebrating my goals when I achieve them, what a great idea.

Well, the last goal I completed was ordering my business cards. I am going to celebrate by getting myself a Reese Peanut Butter cup blizzard, and as extra celebration I am going to get a BIG one!

Thanks for giving me yet another reason to eat ice cream!

Do you have a link to your business cards, or a photo anywhere? Would love to see 'em! And stop making me jealous – there are NO Dairy Queens in NYC or any surrounding boroughs. My hubby (from Buffalo) thinks I'm nuts that I have to make a DQ trip whenever we're out of town & see one close by. I can't help it, though. Those Blizzards call my name.

  8. Jeremie Says:

I have written a post about my business card win that is on my editorial calendar for my blog that includes a picture of the card. However, I am interested in other's opinions so perhaps I will send you a 'preview'.

No Dairy Queens? I thought NYC was civilized…..

  9. admin Says:

I tried to get to your calendar, but no such luck. Is it on your site? If not, definitely send me a "preview" – I'd love to see it!

There used to be a Dairy Queen in Penn Station when I was growing up, but that's been closed for years. So…you thought wrong.

The philosophy of celebrating the small successes! It makes life so much more enjoyable

    Amen! :)
