Jeremie, I hope you aren't too downtrodden over this. I'm a firm believer in the fact that things happen for a reason, and when it comes to coaching, I'm an even firmer believer that the client has to to come to you and follow-up - that shows they're ready to be coached. Imagine you signed this person on? I can see you sitting by the phone as they stand you up, and coming back to you with lame excuses. Be reassured that if & when this client is ready to be coached, he/she will reach out to you. That's when you can work your magic!

Well, email sent to my client, and the response is the same as last time: "I am very interested and need to work with you, I will be in contact". Unfortunately, the last few times there has never been further contact.

Crossing my fingers I hear from him again this time.

You do, Robin! You do! OK, I don't know you from a hole in the wall but I can absolutely say "You do." We all do, actually - I think that what separates us is those that take the leap & jump & those that stay where it's warm & safe & comfortable (like Blogging Land).

My scary place for lack of a better term is definitely to write with the intention of sending it out to be published. I can blog all day long but to put my credentials to the test-do I really have what it takes?

It's so odd to think that letting control go is a risk - I automatically think, "Take a risk! Grab the reigns!" - but it's absolutely valid & truthful. I know I'm that way too, but never thought of it in those terms! Letting go can be a big risk. Hope you're doing OK with stepping away, Carolyn. I know your book is in good hands & anyone trusted with it will take good care of it!

I have to let go of controlling every aspect of my book. It's the scariest thing I've ever done and I'm a bit of a control freak. So letting others take over different aspects is incredibly difficult. I am scared beyond belief. It's my dream and it's kickoff time, but I have to walk off the field -- and I don't want to! But I have to in order for it to be successful and to remain a human being who doesn't work 22 hours every day.

It's a huge risk because I know this book better than anyone else. Yet, it's a risk that is necessary in order for it to move beyond my little hands and reach as many people as possible.

Go Jeremie! Freakin' A! I know that risk will pay off, even if your client decides not to continue. That just means the timing wasn't right, and you're freeing yourself for something awesome to come along. Keep me posted!

My current roadblock is using my coach training as a reason not to go too far, too quick into building my business. My reasoning is "I am still in training, there will be time later to build my business".

So, my big risk is coming up in June, when I am going to see a class I taught two years ago graduate from the school I used to teach at. It will be a chance for me to some real life "I am a coach" networking and hand out some business cards (which I finally am in the process of getting made).

During that same visit I will hopefully attending a networking group that a friend of mine goes to, so, another chance to try on the "I am a coach" persona and hand out more cards.

However, that isn't until June 11th, so I guess I should come up with a big risk I can take right now. I have had one client so far, and we completed one session. Since then he has emailed me telling me that he wants to continue, but won't commit. I have been avoiding contacting him as I don't want to seem a pest.

I am off to send him an email!

I'm working so, so hard building my business...and I have so many Big Ideas & Big Projects in the pipeline...and yet, I sometimes feel like I'm prioritizing the "safe" choices first. "Before I start planning workshops, I need to drop off these postcards" or "I can't possibly start group coaching until I set up a Ning social group & sign up for Adobe Acrobat & get some sleep...."

See, life coaches put roadblocks in their way too!

So, what am I most scared of? What would be the greatest risk? Definitely giving workshops & putting together group coaching sessions. So ya know what? That's what I'm gonna work on next!
